Privacy Policy

Last updated June 17, 2026

With PDFTape, your files stay on your device. The PDFs and images you open are processed entirely on your own computer — in your browser or in the Mac app. Your file contents are never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on our servers. This policy explains the limited data we do handle. How much of that applies to you depends on how you obtained the app — see the Mac App Store edition note below.

The short version

  • Your files never leave your device. We cannot see, store, or access the documents you work on.
  • The Mac App Store edition collects no personal data at all — no account, no analytics, no network.
  • We do not sell your personal data.

Mac App Store edition

The version of PDFTape distributed through the Apple Mac App Store collects no personal data. It has no account, runs no analytics, and makes no network connections — your PDFs and images are processed entirely on your Mac. Purchases and any in-app purchases there are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy; we do not receive your name, email, payment details, or any other personal information from those transactions.

The billing, license, and technical-data sections below apply only when you buy directly from us — not to the Mac App Store edition.

Information we collect

  • Technical data — basic server and CDN logs (IP address, timestamps) kept briefly for security and abuse prevention. The website itself sets no tracking cookies.
  • Usage analytics — optional, privacy-preserving product analytics (which pages and features get used) processed by PostHog. The website uses it cookielessly with no cross-session identity; the Mac app asks for your consent first and stays off until you opt in, and you can turn it off any time in Settings. Either way it records only anonymous, aggregated events — never your file names, file contents, or any document data.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, upload, or store the contents of your PDFs or images. All merging, splitting, and converting happens locally. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.

How we use information

  • To provide support and respond to your requests.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations.

Who we share information with

  • Infrastructure providers — hosting and email delivery vendors that process data on our behalf under contract.
  • Legal — where required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Data retention

We keep basic server logs and any optional analytics only as long as needed for security and to improve the product. You can request deletion of the data we hold at any time; some records may be retained where the law requires.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@pdftape.com.

Children

PDFTape is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
